To be honest, I found this bar on TikTok. It was a recommendation from that one New York girlie who spills the tea on her hinge dates and shares her favorite perfume recommendations.
Despite my previous TikTok rec letdowns, I figured if anyone knows where to find some of the best bars in NYC, it’s a girl who is always dating.
Any time I give an over-hyped NYC spot a try, it consistently disappoints. Restaurants like Misi and venues such as the Public Hotel are all show and very little substance.
When I was planning my weekend out in Williamsburg and had reservations nearby, I knew it was time to finally check out this bar before it went absurdly viral.
To my surprise, Deux Chats in Brooklyn is a popular recommendation that finally delivers.
Deux Chats Brooklyn Review
Deux Chats is the third bar developed by swanky New York restauranter, Jon Neidich. His whole vibe is “Parisian in a New York State of Mind” which is instantly recognizable when you step foot in his Manhattan sister bars, Le Dive and The Nines.
When you make your grand entrance in Deux Chats, you’ll feel as if you’ve jumped back in time to Paris circa 1880s. The dimly lit belle époque decor is complete with vintage light fixtures, distressed mirrors, and dark mismatched furniture.
Not only is the interior so elaborately decorated but the bar staff was groomed to the nines and somehow seamlessly blended in with the design.
Deux Chats Menu
Emphasizing shareables and small plates, the Deux Chats menu has limited yet gourmet options. You’ll find tasty bites like oysters, deviled eggs, dips, and cheese crostinis. While I didn’t get a chance to try out the delicious-looking cuisine, I look forward to my return to savor it in the near future.
For drinks, they focus on classic martinis but have an ample variety of other classics.
Price Range
Cocktails are a standard $16-$18 and the food can cost you anywhere from $15-$30 per shareable.
For the location, quality, and gorgeous interior – I found it to be a very affordable and impressive ideal date night spot. Deux Chats in Brooklyn is the very essence of luxury on a budget, which is especially refreshing for Williamsburg.
Reservations
While I was able to snag one of their last tables without a reservation, this place is clearly becoming a more popular spot. If you’re planning a date or special night here, I would recommend booking a table in advance.
Dress Code
While Deux Chats doesn’t have a published dress code, you wouldn’t want to be seen here in shorts and a t-shirt. Embrace your inner style and wear your date-night best.
I wore a black corset top, fitted jeans, and Vince Camuto boots.
